About Athloners
01.
1. Goals

The idea behind Athloners was to create a workshop where all the participants would share practical information that could be used in our businesses day to day. The ticket price is used only to cover the expenses of the event and some organisational or prep time compensation.

02.
2. Ethos

The ethos of Athloners is collaboration for the common good. A rising tide raises all boats. We all need to be willing to give of our experience as well as receive the wisdom and experience of  others.

03.
3.Community

Keith Malone created the Wedding Videographers Ireland Facebook group in order that we could help each other out and provide a sense of community in doing what can be a solitary job. The group has been helping wedding videographers for the last 10 years now, from microphone frequencies, to helping cover jobs in emergencies, to all sorts of equipment reviews and recommendations.

Conference Schedule

We’re delighted to announce that we’re running a 1 day workshop with Richard Leng of RL Films on Monday 28th Jan 2019, the day before the official start of Athloners.

Over the years I’ve been filming weddings my approach has been stripped back to what is now become the most effective way I can tell my clients story of their wedding day. To never be trend driven and to focus on the core ingredients that make a good film, light, composition and moments. An approach that is discreet, allowing the wedding to happen naturally. An approach that allows me to work from one small kit bag no matter where in the world I am. This is about being present and being brave, this is not about coverage. Its about being accountable as a wedding film maker to make good wedding films… period.

15 of us from the Irish Facebook group attended Richard’s 2 day Clarity workshop this year and we all agreed it was a game changer for us – from our attitude to equipment, to our shooting style, and to our business plans. Richard’s presentation style is anecodedol, funny and 100% real. Don’t miss it.

Everything is open for discussion and the workshop will be fully interactive, allowing for questions, discussions and tangents.

The price of this one day workshop will be €275 and it will run from 10am to 5pm with an hour for lunch.

We’re delighted to announce that we’re running a 1 day workshop with Michael Toman of Story of Eve on Monday 28th Jan 2019, the day before the official start of Athloners.

Story of Eve is one of the leading cinematic video brands in Ireland and over the last 6 years, Michael has created a brand that has taken him all over the world filming weddings as well as acquiring premium clients here at home.

Michael has an incredible eye for detail, for branding and for creating films that get to the heart of the day. Michael offers a mentoring service as part of the Story of Eve brand and the 1 day workshop will take elements of that to produce practical, useful, insightful take-aways that we can put into practice in our businesses.

He won’t hold anything back, looking at branding and how to attract the right couples for you. How he shoots, the equipment, the approach to editing, colour grading and narrative, as well as how he works with his couples – emails, consultation, Skype calls, contracts – all of the business side of Story of Eve. Everything is open for discussion and the workshop will be fully interactive, allowing for questions, discussions and tangents.

The price of this one day workshop will be €275 and it will run from 10am to 5pm with an hour for lunch.

At Athloners, we don’t do long keynotes with lots of work examples, we do a short intro followed by plenty of Q&A.

Michael Toman is the founder and filmmaker at the highly successful Story of Eve. One of the first storytelling filmmakers from Ireland, Michael blends making premium wedding films both here in Ireland and internationally, as well as teaching, mentoring and being a family man.

Emma Walkin is the founder and filmmaker at Edithouse, founded in 2003 and  treading the line between taking on a high volume of weddings and still producing exceptional high quality. As well as being an active Mum.

Richard Leng is the talent behind www.rlfilmsco .

A HUSBAND AND WIFE PHOTOGRAPHY & CINEMATOGRAPHY DUO!

We love creating authentic and creative storytelling through photography and filming weddings. We enjoy telling stories of people in love all around the globe. Travelling, meeting people, nature, exploring new cities is some of the things we love doing together.

Eoin Healy is one half of the hitchedfilms.ie team.

We’ve been together for over 9 years, although it doesn’t feel that long! One likes old movies, Audrey Hepburn, cookies, extra warm duvets, and lists. Loves lists. The other likes gadgets, action movies, hikes and cool duvets. And both love weddings and meeting new couples. We started Hitched Films in July 2015 and since then we’ve been extremely lucky to work with lots of awesome couples and fabulous venues.

Ev Hen is the brains behind Irish Eye Wedding Films

We tell love stories, and we are always looking to capture every little detail that made your wedding day unique to you. No two couples are the same and, for us, no two films should be the same.

Clive McLaughlin is Pigmint Films.

I am truly blessed and don’t half recognise it sometimes – but it’s pretty sweet to live on the North Coast of Ireland with good friends and family nearby!

I’m keen that all my couples get to know the real me, and so I encourage you all to follow me on Instagram. I’m a pretty active Insta Story-teller! Give ‘pigmintfilm_clive’ a follow.

Gavin Gallagher is the brains behind Dreamcatcher.

Dreamcatcher Productions was founded by Gavin & Aaron Gallagher in 2005, after both brothers studied TV & Video production in Ballyfermot College, Dublin.

With a dream of living on the stunning West Coast of Ireland in their home town of Lahinch, Co. Clare and surfing as much as possible they set up Dreamcatcher. Their vision was to create the best possible films to an international award winning standard.

We’ve since grown to a freelance team of 6 core creatives including editors, videographers, drone pilots, motion graphics designers & specialist adventure film cameramen.

Richard Speedie runs Bigday.ie which operates within Quicksmart AV.

Set up in January 2013, Quicksmart AV offers audio and video services to digital publishers, software developers and to the corporate sector. I have 15 years experience in the sector managing multiple vendors on large scale audio and video projects on the client side. Prior to that, I had 12 years experience in the audio production industry. At Quicksmart, we are finely tuned to a client’s needs. I am acutely aware of project management techniques and the pressures that exist producing digital content with multiple stakeholders signing off. At Quicksmart, I have created workflows and processes that are sympathetic to those needs whilst continually focusing on the best quality possible at a cost level that makes realistic sense in today’s financial climate.
