About Athloners
01.
1. Goals

The idea behind Athloners was to create a workshop where all the participants would share practical information that could be used in our businesses day to day. The ticket price is mainly used  to cover the expenses of the event and some organisational or prep time compensation.

02.
2. Ethos

The ethos of Athloners is collaboration for the common good. A rising tide raises all boats. We all need to be willing to give of our experience as well as receive the wisdom and experience of  others.

03.
3.Community

Keith Malone created the Wedding Videographers Ireland Facebook group in order that we could help each other out and provide a sense of community in doing what can be a solitary job. The group has been helping wedding videographers for the last 10 years now, from microphone frequencies, to helping cover jobs in emergencies, to all sorts of equipment reviews and recommendations.

This Modern Revelry …totally different, modern, fun, stylish and purely customer focused. Alan and Laura, owners…articulate, clever and very clued in to the industry. And really sound people.

They will challenge you about what a wedding video is. They will talk about clients and focusing on giving them something fun and all about them. No, it’s not for every wedding or every client, but aspects of their ethos might freshen up what you do, provide inspiration of your own and appeal to the next generation of couples getting married. This isn’t for beginners and it’s not about cameras, gear or tech. It’s about an attitude to the event and working with couples to create something unique and interesting. Check out their work on their website and Instagram and like me, I’m sure you’ll be impressed. TMR have been invited to give workshops in South America and Europe, but this is their first one. I think this works to our advantage in that they’ll make the extra effort to make sure it’s a great experience. And the price point is a good deal lower than it’ll be at future events they appear at.

The workshops at Athloners this year will use questionnaires for each participant to try and align the content for the group. The hosts will research the your wedding business and know who they are speaking to. Due to 2m social distancing requirements, the workshops will be held in large rooms and will be for a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 20. Tickets go on sale on Monday 10th at €285. No VAT on workshops. If the workshop has not sold 10 tickets by Dec 31, the event will be cancelled and money refunded in full.  The break even and financials for this event are extremely tight due to Covid restrictions.

Richard Callaghan heads up creative production video company Media Milk Productions.
Having worked in the broadcast and film industry for nearly 25 years, he has skills in motion design, production and creative development but Richard specialises in his work as a senior colourist.
In 1999, Richard set up Dublin’s first dedicated, non-linear post-production facility that comprised one edit suite and a small motion graphics department in a mews on Baggot Lane,  Dublin 4. Within five years, his company expanded to include five edit suites, a motion graphics department and sound studio based on Appian Way, Dublin 6.
In 2013, Richard rebranded as Media Milk with a view to offering his clients a full service production facility, from creative strategy development, through the production process all the way to delivery, with a focus on short-form brand films and TV commercials.
This year, Media Milk moved into a purpose-built production facility in Blessington Co. Wicklow that includes a voice recording studio, green screen / film studio, production offices, edit suites and cinema-style screening room. Richard is a Blackmagic Design facility using URSAs and Da Vinci Resolve.

Richard clients include RTE, TV3/Virgin, Ryanair, Stena Line, Lucozade Sport, Skoda, Volkswagen and many many more,

The workshop will be specifically tailored for the attendees by myself and Richard. I’m going to work closely with him to create specific content for us, useful and practical. The workshop will include hands on training so a laptop with some work in progress would be good.
